Where this started

I wanted to build something of my own: a name, a reputation, a thing people recognise. Not a company with a logo and nobody behind it, but something that is clearly mine.

So I started on YouTube, telling history the way I like to hear it. Why borders look the way they do, how empires fell apart, the parts the schoolbooks skip. Napoleon started as a doodle and ended up hosting the whole thing. Fifty thousand people decided to come along.

This site is the next step. I keep buying things, using them for months, and forming opinions about them. Instead of that being wasted, I write it down here: what I own, what it is good at, what annoys me, and what it costs in dirhams today.

If something I recommend turns out to be right for you, everyone wins. That is the whole plan.

How I write these guides

Four rules, so you know exactly how much to trust each page.

I pay for my own things. Nobody sends me products. The Kindle Paperwhite and the Sport X20 in the guides are mine, bought with my own money.
I separate what I own from what I researched. When I have used something, you get months of real notes. When I have not, I say so, and stick to specs, prices and what the ratings say.
I write the bad parts too. My Kindle runs out of storage. My earbuds make my voice sound distant on calls. If a page has nothing negative in it, it is an advert, not a guide.
Prices are real and dated. Every guide says which day I checked Amazon.ae. Prices move, so the date matters as much as the number.

How I make money

Affiliate commission, never payment for placement.
